The above quote, from WC Fields, perfectly sums up the modus operandi of our current leadership. Across the globe, a narrow clique of shamelessly self-serving and brazenly corrupt leaders has come to dominate government, finance and big business. Glaringly devoid of any real brilliance of their own, these people have relied on a combination of subterfuge, lies and obfuscation to achieve their ends. In other words, they baffle us with bull.
And no matter how sorry their excuses or far-fetched their lies, they invariably get published verbatim and unchallenged by our sorry excuse of a fourth estate.
The result is that We, the people, are awash, perhaps indeed sinking, in a rising tide of effluent. In short, we no longer know what or whom to believe. To have any hope of escaping this trap, we must challenge and expose the dominant narrative of our times for what it is – an apologia for the vested interests and actions of a small global plutocracy that rules over the economic, financial and geopolitical realms with ruthless abandon.
For the truth to eventually emerge, we must, as Harvey Milk put it, “break down the myths, destroy the lies and distortions.”
C.S. Lewis once wrote that “if you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; If you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth — only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin with, and in the end, despair.”
This “Raging Bullshit” blog is a modest attempt to challenge some of the wishful thinking and scrub away the lathers of soft soap peddled by our political and business leaders and their loyal servants in the mainstream media.
